I really want to thank the refugees who shared the meaning of home with me so that I can share

their stories with you through Liquid Fusion Dance.

In the midst of the chaos and violent atrocities happening around the world,

the most affected are those most vulnerable- children, women and families living in poverty.

Liquid Fusion’s impact piece H.O.M.E. brings light to the complex issues surrounding

the journey of refugees and asylum-seekers to find a H.O.M.E. and to amplify and lift their voices.

I hope this piece resonates with you and brings a new perspective to the strength and courage our refugees and asylum-seekers

have as they flee unimaginable circumstances.

Today, as you watch this video, I hope you can reflect on what H.O.M.E. means to you and hold those you love closer to you today.

W.O.M.A.N.

A piece focused on the woman you are, centering our voices, breaking free of the cages society puts us in and loving our wild, free and multifaceted selves.

“To all our DAUGHTERS:

You are POWERFUL.

You are LIMITLESS.

Your contributions to this world are BRILLIANT, NEEDED AND UNIQUELY YOURS.

You BELONG at EVERY SINGLE TABLE where decisions are being made.

You have a RIGHT to show up in the world EXACTLY as YOU ARE.

And WHO YOU ARE IS ALWAYS ENOUGH.”

2021: Revolutionary love tribe

Creative direction and Choreography: Juhi Jain

Dancers: Juhi Jain, Erin Richardson, Sabrina Hadfield, Shama Lightwala, Janisse Flowers

Videography: David Diaz

Intro- Valarie Kaur Music-Taizu

Organizations to support: Revolutionary love project, Philly solidarity

Liquid Fusion's first impact video- the Revolutionary Love Tribe. All five dancers come from different backgrounds and each of us has a different story to tell. We came together to utilize the art form of dance to start conversations around the structural and political institutions that create violence against brown and black bodies, especially those at the intersection of multiple disparities. At the center of racism and rape is the dehumanization of another human being. How do we bring ourselves to see each human being as worthy of love, respect and dignity? It starts with the revolutionary love tool of wonder- to wonder about another person is to make them human. When you start to wonder about a person, you open the ability to love them and to see them as a part of you. So today, I ask you to wonder about someone you meet who is different from you. I ask you to say to yourself, “You are a part of me I do not yet know.” If you see no stranger and choose to love all people then you must fight for anyone who is suffering from the harm of injustice. And that’s where change starts.

“Your daughter, for whom you have already carried so much, wants to know what you brought, what gift, what light did you keep from extinction? This path you made for me, which bones had to break? Did you do enough? And are you a hero?" She will ask the difficult questions. Tell her the truth. Make it your life. Confirm it. Say, "Daughter, I stood there with the moment drawn on my face like a dagger, and flung it back at itself, slicing space for you." Tell her she was born as you were, as your mothers before, and the sisters beside them, in the age of legends, like always.”

fusion dance - QISMAT (FATE)
Creative direction and Choreography: Juhi Jain

Celebrate love in all its beautiful forms. Your life partner is your choice- it can exist on any aspect of the sexuality spectrum that resonates with you. Every person comes into your life for a reason, by fate. But love is so much more than a romantic partner- it exists everywhere. It exists in the forms of family- mother, father, grandparents, brother, sister, cousin, ancestors, etc. It exists in soul fulfilling friendships- sisterhood, brotherhood and everything in between. It exists in the small moments- the sunrise/sunset, the flutter  of a hummingbird, in the scent of the flowers, in your mother’s laughter, in the hugs and kisses, in holding space, spending time with your best friend, in silence, in laughter, in yourself. Love is everything around you. Take the moments to let it in and experience it everyday of your life.

fusion dance - Liquid Fusion on the AMALFI COAST
Creative direction and Choreography: Juhi Jain

America is a melting pot- an amalgamation of different cultures and people. Our diversity is what makes America beautiful. This remix made by Anurag Deeconda is a beautiful fusion of my American and South Asian identities. I can love, respect and navigate both cultures- the beauty of having multiple identities. Today we celebrate culture, diversity and seeing each other in ourselves. “You are a part of me I do not yet know.” I encourage each of you wonder about those who are different than you and to see no stranger.

fusion dance - Bollywood spice on the AMALFI COAST
Creative direction and Choreography: Juhi Jain

A little Bollywood spice on the Amalfi coast. As times are tumultuous with violence surrounding us and minorities including BIPOC and women fighting for their life and rights on the daily our survival is dependent on finding joy amidst turmoil. Joy is what sustains us, it is what makes everything worth fighting for. In the face of horrors in our world daily and in the struggle to protect our loved ones, choosing to let joy in is a revolutionary act. Spreading a little love and joy in this world today. Today I ask YOU- How are you protecting your joy each day?

fusion dance - CAMBIa El Paso (Change the step)

Creative direction and Choreography: Juhi Jain

I absolutely loved this song by Jennifer Lopez and Rauw Alejandro. It’s time to “Cambia El Paso,” to change your step, with courage, love, patience and kindness to build a world centered on equity, love and humanity. Change is the only constant in this life. Though it can be scary, it is an opportunity to experience something new. It all starts with one step forward, the first step in this dance of life. It can be toward anything that resonates with you- being yourself, loving yourself, loving your life, pursuing your dreams, finding your passion, creating community, helping others, small changes in your daily life toward equity and love, building a movement. Change happens in everyday moments, in the small steps we take forward each day.

fusion dance - I’m Living My Ancestors Wildest Dreams

Creative Direction: Tanika Bedi, founder of ARZIA

Choreography: Juhi Jain

This empowering dance piece incorporates the dance styles of Hip Hop, the Indian classical dance forms of Bharatnatym and Kathak, Belly Dance and Bollywood to bring to life the creative concept of “I’m Living My Ancestors Wildest Dreams.” This creative concept was made to inspire future generations to continue breaking boundaries and glass ceilings through example, portray layers of human lives and stories untold and to showcase that dreams are impact and achievement greater than the common definition of fame at the material level. Everything Juhi does is rooted in love, to be a voice for the most vulnerable and to show that diversity is beautiful and that we are all human. We each have a gift that only we can give the world, find that light and let it shine, always grow and evolve, leave a legacy.
